Scientist: Human Performance Division

Location: Boston ▪ DC ▪ Dayton

NOTE: Preference will be given to those candidates who can be located in Aptima’s DC or Dayton office locations.

We currently have openings in our Human Performance Division for individuals interested in working on a variety of projects related to training needs analysis, training system development and evaluation, performance measure development, technology design and evaluation, and human performance assessment. 

Minimum requirements:

  • Masters or Ph.D. in Human Factors Psychology, Educational Psychology, Industrial/Organizational Psychology, Applied Psychology, Cognitive Science, Human Factors Engineering, Instructional System Design, or related field
  • At least one year of relevant work experience
  • Excellent written communication skills
  • Excellent verbal communication skills
  • Willingness to travel up to 25%
  • U.S. Citizenship
  • Must be able to obtain Secret security clearance

The ideal candidate also will have at least three of the following:

  • Proficiency in defining measures for assessment (e.g., training, performance)
  • Proficiency in domain analysis techniques such as task analysis, training needs analysis, system requirements analysis, etc.
  • Proficiency in experimental design and statistical data analysis, and associated statistical software packages
  • Experience in education or training system design
  • Experience with simulation-based training systems
  • Experience evaluating simulation-based and/or game-based training technology
  • Experience evaluating technologies that support complex human-machine interaction

Desired but not required:

  • History of leading winning proposals
  • Experience leading knowledge facilitation sessions with subject matter experts
  • Experience developing/delivering military training
  • Experience conducting research within the military domain
  • Experience working in situations that are outside applicant’s immediate area of expertise

Aptima will compensate applicants for any travel or relocation expenses to fill this position. All applicants must be willing to work onsite in one of Aptima’s office locations, Monday through Friday (no telecommuting or compressed schedules).
